At Team Southampton we realise that having a strong grassroots structure is key for the success of the club. We have worked hard to build up good links with 2 primary schools, 6 schools and 3 colleges.
We believe that if we are to grow and develop as a club, youth is paramount. We have a number of experienced coaches working in and along side these schools and colleges to promote volleyball to young people. We have set up our volleyball academy at Crestwood College, where all club junior training takes place. Looking to the future of the club, we have U14, U16 and U18 boys and girls teams competing in local, regional and national competitions. A number of these players are going on to represent the South East regional, play for the South Divisional team and England Cadet level.
We ensure that all our coaches have full DBS checks and have the appropriate coaching qualifications for coaching younger people. There is always a first aider on hand at every training session and medical information is taken on each player before they start with a Team Southampton junior squad. Finally, Team Southampton adheres to Volleyball England's Child Protection Policy. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.
We aim to provide young people the the correct atmosphere to develop their skills and enjoy their volleyball. We look to engage with all our young players to become ambassadors for the club. This is created through structured and focused training, awareness of the skills and rules associated with the sport, a good playing manner on/off the court and respect for all people they come in contact with when representing the club. We also run an education programme associated with volleyball.
We have a desire for all our young players to complete the Volleyball Sports Leaders Award thus enabling them to give something back to the club in either coaching younger players, officiating adult matches or support other club teams.
